Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated, collaborative, and innovative Research Associate with a background in fermentation engineering to join Entrada’s upstream process development team. The candidate will work with a world-class, multidisciplinary team of drug discovery scientists to evaluate new clinical candidates. Specifically, the candidate will focus on the improvements of fermentation workflow to produce recombinant therapeutic proteins using microbial expression systems. The candidate will also contribute to scientific publications and regulatory submissions as required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform small scale (shake flask, microwell plate) studies and operate bench-scale bioreactors to optimize microbial fermentation process for recombinant protein expression
  • Perform sample processing and routine biochemical analysis
  • Identify and implement improvements to existing processes; establish SOPs for new programs
  • Assist in scale-up and scale-down activities as well as tech-transfer to CDMOs
  • Communicate and document work clearly
  • Drive to solve problems and ability to work independently
  • Contribute and adhere to all safety standards and practices


  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a relevant scientific discipline with a minimum of 2 years’ of microbial fermentation experience
  • Strong understanding of microbial fermentation principles and engineering fundamentals
  • Experience of high cell density E. coli and Pichia Pastoris batch and fed-batch processes for therapeutic recombinant protein production
  • Experience using lab automation (i.e. robotic systems) to enable complicated or high-throughput protocols preferred
  • Experience in tech transfer to contract organizations preferred
  • Ability to multi-task while remaining organized to meet research and development goals
  •  Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary team with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Drive to solve problems and ability to work independently
